Sexton Burying Beetle

Week commencing: 11 September 2009
Date: 13 September

Trapped: yes - 15W actinic
No. of moths: 35 moths
No. of species: 10 species

Comments: A cold, clear night meant not many moths.  25 Common Marbled Carpet was the largest single catch of this species this year.  It was good to see Epinotia nisella, one of the many brightly coloured micro (tiny) moths.  It’s wingspan is only 12-17mm!  We also had one of the Sexton burying beetles!
