Painted Ladies Visit Wildlife Garden

The wildlife garden, planted in April 2009 as part of the WASP project, has attracted this beautiful migrant butterfly. The flowers of Sweet Rocket and Red Valerian provided food for the butterflies that have recently travelled here all the way from Africa!!

Two chrysalises were found in the St.Marks play cabin. One butterfly has already left the chrysalis. Tortoiseshell Butterfly under the microscope

Lily brought in a dead Tortoiseshell butterfly. We put it under the digital microscope and took these photos.
Very exciting.

Another Brindled Pug!

Ross  found another Brindled Pug moth, crawling up the living room window. His sister, Izzy brought the moth in and found out it was yet another Brindled pug!  ” As part of the moth group, Ethnie and I check on the moths in the fridge every day.”

A white butterfly pupa was found on a school door. The exact species is still to be identified.
